The Grade 2 curriculum builds on existing skills while encouraging independence through a mix of interactive content, practice games, video explanations, and more.
Subjects and some of the skills offered within them:
Math: Understanding place value and comparing numbers within 1,000, solving two-step word problems using addition and subtraction, identifying and describing 2D shapes and fractions of shapes, measuring length and reading time accurately.
English: Determining the meaning of unknown words using context clues, identifying key ideas and details in literature and informational texts, spelling and recognizing parts of speech such as nouns and pronouns, applying capitalization and punctuation rules correctly.
Reading: Decoding and fluently reading words with long and short vowels, comprehending both fiction and nonfiction texts, identifying rhyming words and building vocabulary with sight words, recognizing vowel spelling patterns.
Science: Exploring matter and its properties, understanding relationships within ecosystems, observing and explaining changes in the natural world, learning about plants, animals, and the human body.
Social Studies: Recognizing world geography and cultures, understanding historical timelines and significant dates, identifying community members and roles in society, appreciating the concept of being a global citizen.
Chess: Learning basic moves of pieces, understanding simple opening strategies, practicing capturing and defending pieces, developing early planning and problem-solving skills.
World Around Us: Understanding timelines and historical figures, exploring family roles and diversity, identifying and expressing emotions, learning about national symbols and values
