English for Grade 2
Kids Academy Classroom’s Grade 2 English curriculum builds on foundational literacy skills to help students become fluent readers, confident writers, and effective communicators. Early literacy skills
Mastery of the alphabet, including upper- and lowercase letters and the letters in students’ own names.
Phonological awareness activities, including recognizing rhymes and blending/segmenting sounds in words.

Foundational reading skills
Phonics and word recognition, with practice on prefixes, suffixes, vowel teams, digraphs, silent e, one- and two-syllable words, and multi-syllable words.

Writing conventions
Grammar instruction covering adjectives, adverbs, irregular past tense verbs, simple and compound sentences, nouns, pronouns, and verb tenses.
